FTC Issues Refunds to Consumers Defrauded by Business Consultants

Refunds totaling over $2 million are being distributed to nearly 2,000 consumers misled by baseless earnings claims.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is issuing over $2.4 million in refunds to consumers misled by Lurn’s business consulting programs, which made exaggerated claims about potential earnings. The FTC filed a lawsuit against Lurn in September 2023, alleging the company made baseless promises to sell money-making programs, such as the “Stay-at-Home Millionnaire.“ The complaint stated there was no evidence to support the marketed claims, and very few consumers, if any, achieved the advertised success.

Refunds will be sent to 1,922 consumers who purchased the company’s coaching or mentoring programs. Those without a mailing address on file will receive PayPal payments. More information is available on the FTC website. The FTC reiterated that it “will never demand money, make threats, tell you to transfer money, or promise you a prize.“

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Chair Lina Khan and members of the FTC as they seek to refund consumers who were defrauded.
  • For wisdom for officials of the FTC as they review and investigate shady business practices.
